Tour 1 - Mines & Mountains

in more detail...

This is our tour through the South Wales Valleys to the Brecon Beacons National Park.

We start the day at the 'Big Pit' National Mining Museum of Wales for a visit to our famous coal mine and the award winning* underground tour. Its the descent into the depths of a real Welsh coal mine that draws people from all around the world to visit. You will discover how this part of the world became the heart of the Industrial Revolution and how today the town of Blaenavon has become a World Heritage Site.

Heading north we enter the Brecon Beacons National Park for a tour of the breathtaking countryside. A landscape shaped by glaciers with rolling green hills, sandstone peaks, high mountain lakes and cascading waterfalls. We stop for walks at the National Park Visitors Centre situated in the heart of this inspiring 'breathing space'.

The town of Brecon is also on route. And a what a lovely town it is too. Cosy little streets with plenty of shops and boutiques. A fine museum, indoor market and a number of well stocked antique shops to keep you browsing. The Tower cafe in St Mary's church is a must for a cup of tea, snacks and a chat with the locals.
